July 21 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated Wasco Reserve 7-5 after building an early lead and holding off a late push. Bakersfield scored once in the third inning, added three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, then pushed across two more in the eighth. Wasco answered with one run in the fourth, three in the seventh and one in the eighth. Bakersfield finished with six hits while Wasco collected eight.
Jarel McDade led Bakersfield with a home run and three RBI while also scoring twice and drawing two walks.
Reinaldo Valdez added a hit and an RBI, and
Noah McGowan scored twice and reached base four times with three walks. Wasco’s
Austin Hoffman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double, while
Tyler Dupree homered, scored twice and drove in a run.
Jordan Dicks and
Ethan Skowronski also contributed RBI for Wasco.
Reid Feeley earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing one earned run on six hits in six innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
Spencer Backstrom recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning featuring three strikeouts.
Arton Rank took the loss for Wasco after surrendering five runs, three earned, on five hits in six innings. Bakersfield committed five errors in the game while Wasco had one.
