July 25 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Tucson Saguaros 9-8 in 12 innings at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield finished with eight hits and two errors, while Tucson collected 12 hits and committed eight errors.
Bakersfield scored once in the first inning and added three runs in the fourth to take an early 4-0 lead. Tucson answered with eight runs in the sixth, but the Train Robbers rallied for four runs in the eighth to tie the game before scoring the deciding run in the 12th inning.
Lawrence Chavez led Tucson with three hits and three RBI. Riley Richarz and Caleb Wichman each had two hits and one RBI, while Nick Diaz and Patrick Clifford also drove in a run. Bakersfields Jarel McDade and Ben Tingen each had two hits and scored twice; McDade drove in one run and Tingen added one RBI. Nyles Etheridge went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Edilson Alvarez earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Spencer Backstrom added two scoreless innings with six strikeouts for Bakersfield. Tucson starter Joe Lewis worked five innings, allowing six hits and four runs, three earned, with seven strikeouts, while Joe Rivera took the loss after allowing one run in 3 2/3 innings.
