July 31 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Tucson Saguaros 11-0 behind 11 hits and a dominant pitching performance. Bakersfield scored twice in each of the first two innings, added a run in the third and fifth, and broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Tucson managed only two hits and committed six errors, while Bakersfield played error-free baseball.
Deandre Smith led the Bakersfield offense with three hits and three RBI, including a double. Ben Tingen and Nyles Nygaard each collected two hits and scored three runs, with Nygaard adding a triple and an RBI. Nyles Etheridge drove in two runs, while Tyler Baumann also contributed two RBI.
Garrett Alvarez earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing two hits and no runs over six innings. He walked four and struck out 10. Matt Wheeler, Hidekel Abreu and Reinaldo Valdez combined for three scoreless relief innings. Tucson starter Michael Klein took the loss after giving up seven hits and six runs over five innings, while Daniel Barrett allowed five runs in two innings.
