June 26 2022 The Martinez Sturgeon held off the Bakersfield Train Robbers 8-7 at Joe DiMaggio Park. Martinez scored eight runs on eight hits, while Bakersfield collected nine hits and committed the game’s only error.

Martinez built its lead with two runs in the second inning, one in the fifth and three in the seventh. The Sturgeon added two runs in the eighth, which proved important after Bakersfield rallied for three runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth. Darwin Tavarez went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and one RBI. James Portillo also collected three hits and scored twice, while Jordan Jackson had a double, two runs and one RBI. Kevin Johnson drove in two runs.
