Train Robbers Roll Past Wasco Reserve 22-10

July 7 2022 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated Wasco Reserve 22-10 at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield collected 17 hits and scored in eight innings while Wasco finished with 10 hits. Both teams committed two errors.

Wasco jumped ahead with six runs in the first inning, but Bakersfield answered with one run in the second and five in the third to take the lead. The Train Robbers added two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh before breaking the game open with seven runs in the eighth. Wasco scored once in the eighth and three times in the ninth.

Alex Cornell homered twice and drove in four runs for Bakersfield. John Daly hit a home run and finished with two RBI, while Seth Strong also homered and added two RBI. Jamie Carey drove in three runs, and Benjamin Donerson had two hits, two RBI and three walks. For Wasco, Greg Izzo hit a home run and drove in five runs, while Abimael Gonzalez also homered and Ben Osborne collected two hits and one RBI.

Austin Toerner earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing four hits and six runs in six innings while striking out seven and walking six. Isom Ford recorded the save despite allowing four runs on six hits over three innings, striking out five. Angel Zarate took the loss for Wasco after permitting five runs, four earned, on five hits in 2.1 innings.
