Saguaros Pull Away for 12-2 Win Over Train Robbers

July 11 2022 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 12-2, scoring in five different innings and finishing with 16 hits. Bakersfield collected 11 hits but was held to one run in the second inning and one in the fourth.

Tucson took control with two runs in the second and third innings before adding three in the fourth. The Saguaros added a run in the sixth and broke the game open with four runs in the seventh. Tucson’s offense included home runs by Brock Ephan and EJ Taylor, while Brandon Bradshaw doubled and finished with three hits.

Ephan went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, three RBI and two walks. Taylor was 3-for-5 with five RBI and one run scored. Bradshaw also went 3-for-5 with one RBI, and Steve Joyner and Patrick Music each collected two hits.

Tyler Rumbaugh earned the win after allowing nine hits and two runs, one earned, in six innings. He walked three and struck out five. Jon Ostroff, John Kea and Troy Whitty combined to pitch three scoreless innings in relief. Chris Rodriguez took the loss for Bakersfield after allowing 11 hits and eight runs, seven earned, in six innings.
