May 26 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Lancaster Sound Breakers 18-15 in a high-scoring game at The Hangar. Both teams collected 16 hits and committed four errors, but Bakersfield overcame an early deficit to secure the win.
Lancaster scored seven runs in the second inning and added another in the third to take an 8-3 lead. Bakersfield answered with six runs in the fourth to move ahead 9-8, then added five runs in the sixth and four in the eighth. The Sound Breakers scored three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings and added another in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback.
Christian Jones led Bakersfield with two hits, a home run and seven RBI. Rick Phillips went 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Cameron Isbell had three hits and two RBI. Joe Riddle scored three runs and collected two hits, and Dominic Moore scored three times while reaching base four times.
Nate Duarte paced Lancaster with four hits and five RBI. Jacob Jablonski scored five runs, drew five walks and hit a home run, while Luke Smith and Kyle Jenkins each recorded three hits. Isbell earned the victory after allowing six hits and five runs, three earned, over five innings while striking out five. AJ Chacon took the loss despite pitching five innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs, six earned. Michael Haith was charged with the loss after facing three batters and allowing two runs and three walks.
