June 1 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Dublin Leprechauns 15-10 in a high-scoring contest at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield collected 15 hits and overcame Dublin’s 14-hit attack while committing one error compared with five for the Leprechauns.
Dublin struck first with five runs in the opening inning, but Bakersfield answered with five runs in the third and added two in the fourth to take a 7-5 lead. The Train Robbers extended the advantage with three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh. Dublin scored twice in the fifth and three times in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
Blake Vandiver went 2-for-5 with three RBI for Bakersfield, while Rick Phillips had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Christian Jones scored three runs and drove in two, and hit two home runs. Phillips also homered. Tevin Brown and Hunter Adams each collected three hits, while Aramis Cruz added two hits and two RBI.
Aaron Hurt earned the win after allowing 10 hits and seven runs in five innings with three walks and one strikeout. Cameron Isbell recorded the save with four innings of relief, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two. Dublin starter Mike Rios allowed six earned runs in four innings, and Marcelo Garcia-Cruz took the loss after surrendering three runs in one inning.
