June 19 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Lancaster Sound Breakers 14-7 at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield collected 11 hits and scored in six innings, while Lancaster finished with 14 hits but left the ballpark on the wrong side of the high-scoring result.
Bakersfield took a 5-4 lead through two innings after scoring three runs in the second. The Train Robbers broke the game open with four runs in the fourth, then added two in the seventh and three in the eighth. Lancaster scored twice in the first and third innings and added one run in the ninth, but could not close the gap.
Rick Phillips led Bakersfield with two hits and four RBIs, including a home run. Tevin Brown went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, while Christian Jones and Seth Strong each drove in two runs. Max Tracey scored twice and added a hit and an RBI. For Lancaster, Evan Antonellis went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, Kyle Jenkins had three hits and two runs, and Christian Quezada collected two hits and two runs.
Austin Toerner earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing six earned runs on 10 hits in five innings with two walks and three strikeouts. R. Portillo followed with three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three, and Joe Riddle worked the ninth. Lancaster used Joe Richter and Nico ODonnell, who combined to allow 14 runs on 11 hits with nine walks and eight strikeouts.
