Train Robbers Pull Away to Beat Sturgeon 5-1

July 5 2024 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 5-1, collecting 10 hits while limiting Martinez to five. Bakersfield scored once in the first inning, added two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh to build a 5-0 advantage. Martinez scored its only run in the eighth inning.

Noah McCreary led the Train Robbers offensively by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Joe Riddle also went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Ashanti Ross scored twice and drove in a run. Isaiah Mirabal added a double and an RBI, and Riddle also recorded a double. Bakersfield finished with four walks and stole one base.

Alex Miller earned the win after allowing one run on four hits in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked two before Jayden Metz completed the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Harrison Aiken took the loss for Martinez after surrendering five runs on nine hits in seven innings.
