Martinez Sturgeon Edge Bakersfield Train Robbers 18-17

June 3 2025 The Martinez Sturgeon outlasted the Bakersfield Train Robbers 18-17 in a 10-inning game at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Martinez finished with 15 hits and Bakersfield also collected 15, while the Sturgeon committed five errors and the Train Robbers made three.

Martinez surged in front with seven runs in the first inning, but Bakersfield answered with six in the second to pull even at 7-7. The Sturgeon added two runs in the third, four in the sixth, one in the eighth, three in the ninth and one in the 10th. Bakersfield scored once in the first and sixth innings, five times in the seventh and four times in the eighth before being held scoreless in the ninth and 10th.

Sam Freedman led the Sturgeon offense with four hits, three runs, six RBI and a home run. Andrew Curran scored three runs, drove in two and drew three walks, while Tanner Graham went 3-for-5 with three runs and two walks. Tyler Best added two hits, two walks and an RBI, and Josiah Collado contributed three RBI.

Bakersfield received four RBI apiece from Joe Riddle and Jared Gay, with Gay also hitting a home run. Ashanti Ross scored four runs and drove in two, while Emilio Luna had three hits and three runs. Myles Rothfarb earned the win for Martinez after allowing one hit and no runs with three strikeouts in two innings. Bryan Krolikowski took the loss for Bakersfield despite permitting one run in 1.2 innings.
