Martinez Sturgeon Hold Off Bakersfield Train Robbers 12-6

July 14 2025 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 12-6 after building a 10-0 lead through eight innings and withstanding a six-run Bakersfield rally in the ninth. Martinez finished with 17 hits, while Bakersfield collected nine.

Martinez broke through with three runs in the third inning and added three more in the fourth. The Sturgeon scored once in the sixth, twice in the seventh, once in the eighth and twice in the ninth. Harrison Treble went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and one RBI, while Andrew Curran went 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. Tyler Best drove in two runs, and Sam Freedman had two hits and one RBI.

Clayton Friemuth earned the win with seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out 13 without issuing a walk. Jackson Kea followed with a scoreless eighth before Bakersfield scored six times in the ninth against David Flanigan and JT Hollis.

Tyler McKenna led Bakersfield with two RBI, while Jared Gay and JD Leslie each drove in a run. Kyle Langston took the loss after allowing six runs on five hits and three walks in four innings. Jacob Perez worked four innings and allowed four runs, and Azhar Khan surrendered two runs in the ninth.
