Train Robbers Use Five Run Third to Beat Sturgeon

July 15 2025 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 14-8 at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield collected 17 hits and scored in seven innings, while Martinez finished with 12 hits and committed five errors compared with three for the Train Robbers.

Bakersfield took an early 1-0 lead before breaking the game open with five runs in the third inning. The Train Robbers added single runs in the fourth and fifth, then scored twice in each of the sixth seventh and eighth innings. Martinez scored twice in the third and fourth innings and added two runs in the seventh before scoring once in each of the final two innings.

Jared Gay led Bakersfield with three hits including a home run and three RBI. Joe Riddle scored three runs while producing two hits and two RBI, and Tyler McKenna scored three times with two hits and one RBI. Emilio Luna and Jumpei Ohashi each collected three hits and two RBI. For Martinez, Ramon Enriquiez went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI and hit a home run, while Tyler Best had two hits and two walks.

Nick Danbrowney was credited as the winning pitcher for Bakersfield, and Ian Concevitch took the loss for Martinez. Concevitch worked five innings and allowed 10 hits eight runs seven earned runs and one walk while striking out seven. Martinez used four pitchers in the game, while Bakersfield used four pitchers and held the Sturgeon to four earned runs.
