8/4/2026-Former Bakersfield Train Robbers infielder Cade Fujii has signed a contract with the Athletics following his 2026 Pecos League season.

Fujii, a native of Kapolei,Oahu, Hawaii, and a Chaminade University product, hit .352 with 4 homers and 40 RBIs for the Train Robbers, while playing shortstop, third base and some second base.

"The A's plan is for me to play in the Arizona Complex League first. From there, I'll keep working to earn opportunities and move up through the system," Fujii said.

"Cade was awesome to manage this season," said Bakersfield manager Bill Rogan. "He has a high baseball IQ but what separates him from a lot of players is his temperament. He's very mature. Doesn't get too high or low and doesn't shy away from big moments. About two weeks into our season, it hit me. His comportment reminded me of Derek Jeter. He has the right mental mindset to move up the Athletics system and no one will outwork him."

Rogan also credited former Train Robber Ashanti Ross for putting him in touch with Fujii. "Ashanti said I should check out this guy who was playing at Chaminade and who he played with at Porterville College. I'm glad I did."

Fujii holds good memories from his summer in Bakersfield.

"My time in Bakersfield meant a lot to me," Fujii began. "I'm grateful to the coaches and my teammates for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play. I learned a lot about competing every day, staying consistent and trusting the work I've put in. It was an incredible experience and I'm thankful for everyone who helped me get to this point."
