Monterey Amberjacks Rally Past Bakersfield Train Robbers 6-5

May 25 2018 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 6-5 in a game that featured a five-run fifth inning by both teams. Monterey scored once in the first before breaking a 1-0 game open with five runs in the fifth. Bakersfield answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, but neither team scored again as Monterey held on for the victory.

Chuck Rocker led Monterey with three hits in five at-bats and scored twice. W. Salas also collected three hits and drove in two runs, while Tom McKenna had one hit and two RBI. Monterey finished with eight hits, four walks and 10 strikeouts, and stole three bases, including two by Rocker.

Jerome Byndloss earned the win after allowing three hits and five runs, two earned, in six innings. He struck out five and walked four. Jarred Weis followed with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts, and Neil Lang recorded the save with a scoreless ninth that included two strikeouts. Bakersfield starter Alex Dandridge took the loss after allowing five hits and four runs, one earned, in 4.2 innings.
