June 3 2018 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the California City Whiptails 9-3 at Balsitis Park, using a 13-hit attack to pull away for the victory. Bakersfield scored in six different innings and held California City to nine hits while taking advantage of four Whiptails errors.
Shane Sharkey and Jesse Baker each homered for Bakersfield. Sharkey went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a walk, while Baker recorded two hits and drove in four runs. Tobias Moreno added two doubles, and Sonny Cortez, Rory Graf-Brennen, Jesse Baker, Moreno and Steve Pascaul each had two hits. Bakersfield scored twice in the first inning, added runs in the third and fourth, scored twice in the fifth, and added single runs in the eighth and ninth before putting the game away with two more runs in the ninth.
Jesse Remington earned the win for the Train Robbers after allowing two runs on six hits in six innings. He walked four and struck out five. Bakersfield relievers allowed one run over the final three innings, with A. and Zach Williams each throwing a scoreless inning. Jordan Cummings took the loss for California City after giving up six runs, five earned, on 11 hits in five innings. Jordan Dicks and Nick Snyder each had two hits for the Whiptails, while Dicks and Eli Roundtree drove in the teams runs.
