California City Whiptails Blank Train Robbers 6-0

July 4 2018 The California City Whiptails scored twice in each of the seventh eighth and ninth innings to defeat the Bakersfield Train Robbers 6-0. California City finished with an 11-3 advantage in hits and held Bakersfield scoreless throughout the game.

Wardy Polanco led the Whiptails with three hits and a run scored. Garrett Totty went 2-for-5 with a double an RBI and a run, while Eli Roundtree added two hits two RBI and a run. Carson Lee and Nick Snyder also drove in runs for California City. The Whiptails recorded four doubles and a triple but no home runs.

Javier Taylor earned the win after allowing one hit and three walks while striking out four in six scoreless innings. Tyus Adkins worked a scoreless seventh, and Jack Finnegan followed with two hitless innings and three strikeouts to complete the shutout.

J. Remington kept Bakersfield scoreless for five innings while striking out nine, but Jonathan Fleckenstein was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in two innings. Chris Danielson and Chad Bennett each surrendered two runs as California City pulled away late.
