Monterey Amberjacks Rally Past Bakersfield Train Robbers 9-8

July 12 2018 The Monterey Amberjacks rallied past the Bakersfield Train Robbers 9-8 at Hollister Memorial Park. Monterey collected 12 hits and held off Bakersfield after the Train Robbers scored eight runs over the sixth and seventh innings. Bakersfield finished with nine hits and neither team committed an error.

Monterey built a 6-0 lead through five innings with two runs in the first and two each in the fourth and fifth. Bakersfield answered with three runs in the sixth and five in the seventh to take an 8-7 advantage. The Amberjacks responded with two runs in the eighth and then held Bakersfield scoreless in the ninth.

Cutter Mcdowell went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Monterey. James Prockish added a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and two RBI, while Ronald Jackson went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. For Bakersfield, Kyle Bonicki hit a home run and drove in four runs, and C. Rocker and B. Luebcke each had two hits.

Jake Samson earned the win for Monterey after allowing six hits and five earned runs in 2.1 innings. Ian Jones recorded the save with one scoreless inning. Bakersfield starter Zack Kamerman worked five innings and allowed eight hits and six runs, five earned, while Zach Williams took the loss after surrendering two runs in one inning.
