Monterey Amberjacks Beat Bakersfield Train Robbers 7-4

July 23 2018 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 7-4 at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Monterey collected nine hits and scored in the first third fifth and ninth innings while Bakersfield finished with six hits and scored in the first fourth and eighth.

Monterey center fielder K. Connolly led the offense by going 3-for-5 with three runs and a double. Jeremy Glore added two hits and scored once while Cutter McDowell and Thomas Prospero each contributed a hit and a run. Monterey also stole three bases as a team with Connolly recording two and Glore one.

Bakersfield catcher Jesse Baker went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Kyle Bonicki added a double and drove in a run while Brett Balkan scored twice and drew two walks. The Train Robbers committed three errors compared with two for Monterey.

Donnie Speranza earned the win after allowing five hits and three runs in seven innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Andrew Arnold worked one inning and allowed one run while James Prockish closed the game with a scoreless ninth to earn the save. Jesse Remington took the loss for Bakersfield after surrendering seven hits and five runs in 5.1 innings with three walks and nine strikeouts.
