June 17 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers built an early lead and held on for an 11-8 victory over the Wasco Reserve. Bakersfield scored once in the first inning five times in the second and twice in the third to take an 8-1 advantage. Wasco answered with six runs in the seventh and one in the eighth but could not complete the comeback after Bakersfield added three runs in the eighth.
Jarrett Anton led Bakersfield’s 16-hit attack by going 4-for-6 with a run and an RBI.
Marcos Figueroa went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI while
Jose Arocha and
Karlos Joseph each collected two hits and drove in a run.
Andres Rios scored three times and reached base three times with a hit and two walks. Wasco’s
Tyler Dupree drove in two runs and
Austin Hoffman went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Reid Feeley delivered six innings for Bakersfield allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out six. Sergio Valenzuela earned the win after recording two outs and allowing one hit and
Edilson Alvarez secured the save with a scoreless ninth inning and two strikeouts. Wasco starter
Dmitry Shtykher allowed eight runs seven earned on 12 hits in five innings while
Taylor Peterson was charged with the loss.
