Bakersfield Defeats Tucson Behind Alvarez Complete Game

June 19 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Tucson Saguaros 6-1, scoring all of their runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Bakersfield collected eight hits and finished with a 6-1 record in the game’s line score, while Tucson had six hits and one error. Tucson’s only run came in the fifth inning, while the Train Robbers scored four times in the fourth and added two more runs in the fifth.

Edilson Alvarez delivered a complete-game performance for Bakersfield, allowing six hits and one earned run over nine innings. He issued one walk and struck out 11 batters on 123 pitches, earning the win. Tyler Daugherty took the loss for Tucson after allowing six runs five earned on six hits and five walks in 4.1 innings. Kris Keach followed with 3.2 scoreless innings and five strikeouts.

Alvarez also contributed at the plate with a double and two RBI. Reinaldo Valdez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk, while Andres Rios and Darian Fleming each scored a run. Luis Alvarado and Jose Arocha also drove in runs for the Train Robbers.

For Tucson, J. Garnett went 2-for-4 with two doubles and scored the team’s lone run. Lawrence Chavez added two hits and a walk, and Caleb Wichman had one hit. The Saguaros struck out 11 times and left five runners on base.
