June 29 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers scored four times in the first inning and held on for a 4-1 victory over the Monterey Amberjacks. Bakersfield finished with seven hits while Monterey collected five.
Jarrett Anton drove in two runs for the Train Robbers, while Andres Rios added an RBI. Anton also recorded a hit and a walk. Monterey’s Morgan Blatnik went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, and Nathaniel Thompson added two hits including a double. The Amberjacks scored their only run in the first inning.
Garrett Alvarez earned the win after allowing one run on five hits in eight innings while striking out nine and walking one. Spencer Backstrom completed the ninth with a scoreless inning and one strikeout for the save. Nick Grim took the loss for Monterey after surrendering four runs on five hits in four innings.
