Bakersfield Train Robbers Rally Past Tucson Saguaros 8-6

July 13 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers scored four runs in the seventh inning to overcome the Tucson Saguaros and secure an 8-6 victory. Bakersfield finished with 13 hits and one error while Tucson collected 14 hits but committed three errors.

Tucson took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the third inning and added two in the fifth to move ahead 5-4. Bakersfield answered with a four-run seventh inning, taking an 8-5 lead, and Tucson could manage only one run in the eighth. Tucson went scoreless in the ninth as Bakersfield held on.

Lawrence Chavez led Tucson with three hits, including a home run and a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Riley Richarz also had three hits, while Evan Douglas and Daniel Diaz added two hits apiece. Nick Diaz drove in two runs, and Michael Klein contributed a pinch-hit RBI.

Karlos Joseph had three hits for Bakersfield, while Evan Hirschbaum collected two hits and an RBI. Luis Alvarado, Deandre Smith, Jarel McDade and Matt Weiss each drove in a run. Weiss allowed five runs on 11 hits over six innings for Bakersfield, and Darian Fleming earned the win after allowing one run on two hits in one inning. Spencer Backstrom recorded the save with a scoreless ninth that included three strikeouts. Tucson starter Will Morris worked six innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits with five strikeouts, while Matt Reitz was charged with the loss after surrendering four runs on four hits without recording an out.
