July 16 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated Wasco Reserve 13-4 after overcoming an early four-run deficit. Wasco scored three times in the first inning and added another run in the second to take a 4-0 lead, but Bakersfield answered with three runs in the third, two in the fifth, four in the sixth and four in the eighth. The Train Robbers finished with 12 hits while Wasco collected nine.
Karlos Joseph delivered the key power blow for Bakersfield with a home run and three RBI.
Nyles Nygaard went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, while
Evan Hirschbaum added two hits, two runs and an RBI. Luis Alvarado scored three runs and drove in one, and
Jarel McDade and
Jose Arocha each contributed two hits and an RBI.
Garrett Alvarez earned the win for Bakersfield after working seven innings. He allowed nine hits and four runs, three earned, while walking four and striking out 13.
Matt Wheeler and
Ben Tingen each pitched a scoreless inning in relief, combining for four strikeouts.
Arton Rank took the loss for Wasco, allowing six hits and five runs, three earned, in five innings with five walks and three strikeouts. Wasco committed four errors, compared with one for Bakersfield, which also left 14 runners on base.
