August 8 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 5-2 in the Pacific Division Championship Game at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield finished with nine hits and overcame two errors, while High Desert had four hits and three errors.

High Desert scored once in the first inning, but Bakersfield answered with three runs in the second to take the lead. The Yardbirds pulled within one run with a score in the eighth, before the Train Robbers added two insurance runs in the ninth to secure the victory.

N. Etheridge led Bakersfield with three hits in five at-bats and two RBI. Reinaldo Valdez added two RBI, while Ben Tingen, Andres Rios and Luis Alvarado each scored once. Oscar Larranaga recorded High Desert’s only RBI, and Anthony Ward scored twice while drawing two walks.

Edilson Alvarez earned the win after allowing four hits and two runs, one earned, over 7.1 innings. He walked three and struck out five. Spencer Backstrom recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning, striking out three. Harry Ferguson took the loss for High Desert despite allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits in seven innings while striking out seven.

August 7 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 8-1 at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield finished with nine hits and no errors while High Desert managed four hits and committed four errors.

Bakersfield took an early lead with one run in the first inning and broke the game open with four runs in the third. The Train Robbers added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before scoring again in the ninth. High Desert’s only run came in the sixth. Andres Rios went 2-for-3 with two walks two runs and two RBI, while Nyles Nygaard and Luis Alvarado each collected two hits. Deandre Smith and N. Etheridge also drove in runs for Bakersfield.

Manny Corpas earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing four hits and one run over nine innings. He struck out 10 and walked four, throwing 88 strikes in 141 pitches. Jacob Rosales took the loss for High Desert after allowing eight hits and seven runs over 4.1 innings, with six strikeouts and two walks. August 3 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the California City Whiptails 5-3 after building an early lead and adding an insurance run in the sixth inning. Bakersfield collected 11 hits and scored three times in the first inning, once in the second and once in the sixth. California finished with eight hits and scored in the second fourth and eighth innings.

Ben Tingen led Bakersfield with two hits and two runs scored. Evan Hirschbaum went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, while Deandre Smith hit a home run and drove in two runs. Nyles Nygaard and Nyles Etheridge also contributed RBI hits. Luis Alvarado had two hits for the Train Robbers.

George Rodriguez earned the win with two innings allowing one run on two hits. Oscar Larranaga led the Yardbirds with four hits in five at-bats, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Danny Kerr added three hits and scored three times, while Anthony Ward reached base four times with two hits and two walks. Dillon Fahr and Slayton Vaughan each had two hits, and John Schulz contributed a double and three RBIs.

Monterey scored once in the fourth inning before adding three runs in the seventh to break open a 2-1 game. Bakersfield scored twice in the third inning but was held scoreless over the final four innings.

Monterey collected 10 hits, led by Coleman Poje and James Prockish with two apiece. Poje drove in one run and scored once, while Morgan Blatnik, Nathaniel Thompson and Austin Marcellus each recorded an RBI. Thompson and Marcellus hit doubles. Bakersfield finished with five hits, including Jarel McDade’s two-run home run, his fourth of the season. McDade also scored once and drew a walk.

Jonathan Vance earned the win for Monterey after allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings. He struck out five and walked one. Sam Lynn Ballpark Looking for Minor Improvement: A New Scoreboard

Its no coincidence the almost 80-year-old history of Sam Lynn Ballpark comes with major up keep to keep it running, efficiently, including the 40-year-old scoreboard.

The Bakersfield Train Robbers are current residents of historic Sam Lynn Ballpark and are in need of contributions from the community. As some may know, the Bakersfield Train Robbers are part of the Pecos League, an independent professional league that has been successful for 9 years. Most recently the Pecos League moved to California to create the Pacific Division and found charm and use in Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark after the California League vacated the Bakersfield Blaze at the end of the 2016 season.

Sam Lynn Ballpark still has a ton of potential to be used for various activities and events besides baseball in the summer and winter months. The ballpark has been most recently used for a couple of dog shows, a baby shower, a wedding, Raider Fest, 10k marathons, company outings, drive-in movies, Terrio Tournament, and other events that will take place later in the year.

The point is simple: Sam Lynn Ballpark is in need of a new scoreboard which will include a video board to accommodate and attract more events. The cost of a new scoreboard like this will be anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000. With very little funds within the Pecos League and none coming from Kern County because the county budget is very limited. Sam Lynn Ballpark is seeking donations from the Kern County community. All contributors will receive recognition, such as their name, on the new scoreboard, while "grand slam" donations and sponsors will have a larger spot on the new scoreboard. Lastly, Sam Lynn Ballpark would like to stay in the community for as long as it can, after all its part of Kern Countys history. All city and county residents who grew up here can probably think of a special memory they had at Sam Lynn Ballpark and smile.

Bakersfield finished with 15 hits, while Wasco collected seven. The Train Robbers also hit two home runs, one each by Jarel McDade and Noah McGowan.

Bakersfield scored once in the first inning before Wasco answered with a run in the second. The Train Robbers broke the game open with seven runs in the third, taking an 8-1 lead. Wasco scored twice in the fourth and twice in the fifth to cut the margin to 8-5, but Bakersfield added an insurance run in the sixth and held Wasco scoreless over the final four innings.

McDade led Bakersfields offense by going 4-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and one RBI. McGowan drove in three runs while reaching base four times with one hit and three walks. Wasco led 6-2 after scoring five runs in the fifth inning, but Bakersfield answered with seven runs in the sixth to take a 9-6 lead. The Train Robbers added a run in the eighth, and Wasco scored twice in the ninth without completing the comeback. Bakersfield opened the game with two first-inning runs, while Wasco scored once in the first.

Luis Alvarado led Bakersfield with two hits and three RBI, including a home run, while Deandre Smith added a homer and two RBI. Nyles Nygaard and J. High Desert scored twice in the fourth and three times in the seventh to build a 5-4 lead, but Bakersfield answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh before the teams traded runs in the 13th. June 1 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers scored twice in the ninth inning to secure a 5-3 victory over Wasco Reserve. Bakersfield finished with 10 hits and no errors while Wasco collected six hits and also played errorless baseball.

Wasco took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but Bakersfield answered with three runs in the fourth to move ahead. Wasco tied the game with a run in the eighth before the Train Robbers regained the lead with two runs in the ninth. Bakersfield"s scoring was supported by two hits each from Karlos Joseph, Jarrett Anton and J. Hernandez. Joseph, N. Etheridge, Anton and Luis Alvarado each recorded an RBI in the box score.

Reid Feeley struck out 11 over six innings for Bakersfield, allowing four hits and two earned runs. Spencer Backstrom earned the win after pitching 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. For Wasco, Dmitry Shtykher worked six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out four. Mitchell Langer was charged with the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits in one inning. The game was recorded as the first MiLB home game in Wasco history at WRPD Ballpark Wasco.

May 31 2019 The California City Whiptails defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 7-4 after building leads with three runs in the fourth inning two in the fifth and two in the seventh. California finished with 12 hits while Bakersfield collected six.

Tyler England went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI for the Whiptails. Ben Tingen and Blake Maddox each had two hits and two RBI while Brady Usherwood added two hits and one RBI. California also received two hits from Blake Wilson and a two-hit performance from Julian Tejeda.

Bakersfield’s Karlos Joseph hit a home run and drove in two runs. Jose Arocha added one hit and one RBI while designated pitcher Devin Alexander also had a hit and an RBI. The Train Robbers scored once in the second two runs in the fourth and once in the fifth but did not score over the final four innings.

Trevor Wick earned the win after allowing one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts in two innings. Roberto Jimenez worked 1.1 scoreless innings and Ben Tingen recorded the save with 1.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Alexander took the loss for Bakersfield after surrendering seven earned runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings while striking out nine.

May 30 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the California City Whiptails 11-9 in 11 innings. Bakersfield collected 12 hits and overcame a seven-run ninth inning by California to secure the victory.

Bakersfield took an 8-2 lead through eight innings after scoring three times in the third, once in the sixth, twice in the seventh and twice in the eighth. California then erupted for seven runs in the ninth to move ahead 9-8, but the Train Robbers answered with a run in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. Bakersfield scored twice in the 11th for the decisive margin.

J. Hernandez led Bakersfield with two hits, a home run and four RBI. Luis Alvarado added two hits and two RBI, while T. Davis and Darian Fleming each had two hits. Andres Rios scored three runs and reached base twice with walks. California"s Blake Wilson went 3-for-6 with three RBI, Blake Maddox had two hits and three RBI, and Tyler England contributed two hits, two walks and one RBI.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Bakersfield Train Robbers will be hosting its third annual vocalist auditions for the 2019 season on Tuesday, May 21st at 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at historic Sam Lynn Ball Park. Soloists, duets, trios and groups are invited to audition The Star-Spangled Banner.

Interested parties who would like to tryout should come out to Sam Lynn no later than 7:30pm. Open auditions will be on a first-come, first-serve basis from.

Top performers will sing live at Sam Ball Park during the 2019 baseball season which begins open the season on May 30th and run through August 2. The very best performer from that day will be selected to have the honor of singing the National Anthem on Opening Day. All ages are welcome, but children should be accompanied by an adult.

Edilson Alvarez will serve as field manager for the Bakersfield Train Robbers.

Edilson managed the Monterey Amberjacks for the first 10 days of the 2019 season before being sent to Salina in Can Am League. Edilson was Salinas best pitcher on the staff winning 4 starts. At the end of Salinas season he was drafted by Ottawa in the dispursal draft. Edilson has pitched in Three Rivers (Trois Riveres) in the Can Am League since 2015. He won the Can Am League/American Association All Star Game in 2016. Edilson was the 2013 Pecos League Pitcher of the Year. Edilson pitched in the Minnesota Twins Organization from 2009-2011. Edilson also pitches in Winter Ball in the Dominican Republic

Edilson was originally signed by the Minnesota Twins from the Dominican Republic. He signed with the Las Vegas Train Robbers and played three weeks with the Douglas Diablos before heading to Three Rivers. He was one of the key members of Three Rivers Championship Team.

The Train Robbers begin Spring Training on May 23, 2019 .

Sam Lynn Ballpark in Bakersfield will host the Western League in January and February of 2019.

The Western League is an Independent Winter Baseball in the United States beginning January 2019. The League will consist of five weeks of games and one weeking of Training Camp. The Western League is classified as Independent Professional Baseball all players are paid. The league will be completed before MLB Spring Training Report Date and will allow players to showcase themselves to be signed or resigned by Minor League Baseball Teams.

There will be no restrictions for players trying out based on previous leagues or age.
