San Rafael pulled out a comeback win in dramatic fashion Friday by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat visiting Bakersfield, 9-8, winning the Pacific Division title and advancing to the Pecos League Championship Series in the process.

In an error-filled contest that saw the lead change hands five times, the game was decided in the ninth as San Rafael erased an 8-7 Bakersfield lead when Kevin Johnson doubled in Kyle Guerra (whod led off with a walk and then stole second) before later closing out the series on a bases-loaded Tyler Georgeson sacrifice fly to left than had Guerra scampering across the plate with the winning run. Johnson finished the night with two hits and three RBIs for the Pacifics while Guerra scored four times on two hits and two walks. Paul Van Zboray belted a two-run homer for the Train Robbers and Christian Jones added two RBIs on a pair of singles. Reliever Billy Babb held Bakersfield scoreless over the last 1.1 innings to earn the win while the loss went to Train Robbers starter Austin Toerner, who gutted out 146 pitches before leaving with a one-run lead after the eighth.

The Bakersfield Train Robbers have released their 2023 Schedule. 2023 will mark the 6th season on Train Robber Baseball at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. The Pacific Division of the Pecos League will consist of eight exclusively from California. The defending Pacific Division Champions Tucson Saguaros are in the Mountain Division in 2023.

Bakersfield and Sam Lynn Ballpark will retain $1 beer night and $1 ticket night on Monday Nights.

The teams in the Pacific division are:

• Monterey Amberjacks
• Martinez Sturgeon
• Vallejo Seaweed
• San Rafael Pacifics
• Dublin Leprechauns
• Marysville Drakes
• Lancaster Sound Breakers

These eight teams will play their entire season within the division. Four teams from the Pacific Division will qualify

Opening Day is just around the corn

Opening Day is just around the corner, and while teams are finalizing their rosters and promotions, the Pecos Leagues first pitch is set. James Tansen, a fan of the Bakersfield Train Robbers, will throw out the first pitch for the 2023 season. James attended the final regular season game on August 1, 2022 in which Wasco defeated the Train Robbers 12-8.


During the game, tragedy struck as James was stung by a bee and went into anaphylactic shock. Jamess daughter was sitting with him and immediately found a help from nurse Kristin Meadows who was attending the game in the stands a few rows away. Kristin located an EpiPen from Kimberly Olsen who was also in attendence as a fan. Later the ER doctor informed James that if he would not have gotten the EpiPen immediately he could have died. The Bakersfield Train Robbers look forward to having James Tansen throw out the first pitch of the Pecos League Season on May 22 against the Lancaster Sound Breakers at Sam Lynn Park in Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Train Robbers are glad to announce the return of Relly Mercurio as field manager for 2023 season. 2023 will mark his third season in Bakersfield. Relly has lead the Train Robbers to playoffs in both years.
